BAPTISM DAY

Religious, children's unison voices-Baptism Day was written very simply so that a sibling could accompany his/her family while they sung. It has easy words with simple, childlike lyrics, reminding us of the importance of Baptism.

UNITED WE STAND

Religious SA or mixed voices- United We Stand was written for the youth of the Fountain Colorado Stake of the The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. When I was serving with the youth, we leaders were able to do our personal progress along with the girls--the with their "New" book. (We had the old white ones when I was young) So, for my YW in Excellence project one year, I wrote this song. We have incredible youth on our ward, and as I thought about them, "united" was the word that came to mind. In talking to them, I know that our youth are few in numbers at their schools, and they stand out because of their beliefs. People know who they are and what they stand for--and they have gained respect for that! I miss serving with the youth! (but don't tell the Bishop!)

MY KING

Christmas song, Mixed choir SATB-My King was written while I directed church choir in Mesa, AZ. We did this song for the Christmas choir presentation. I had thought a lot about the shepherds, and how our Heavenly Father chose to have the angels come to them to tell of Christ's birth. And when they saw the angels, they promptly decided to go to Bethlehem, and then spread the news of Christ's birth to all that would hear. (Luke 2:15-16) Though they did not have much in monetary means to offer Christ, they gave him the most important thing-their hearts.

COME, COME YE SAINTS

Hymn arrangement for SA or mixed voices-Come Come Ye Saints was written one summer several years ago. It seems that each summer I get this excitement for all things patriotic and pioneer oriented. This hymn is one of my favorites because it is both sad and joyful-but always faith promoting. How grateful I am for the sacrifices of the pioneers.

PIANO MUSIC

Piano selections, currently in levels 1-3, are designed for students taking the piano. I wrote these for my kid's recitals--as they tend to practice better when they can 'request' a song from me.

VIOLIN MUSIC

Religious and Christmas selections for violins-These songs originated out of a need for sacred duet and trio violin music. Over the years I have taught several adults, and we have enjoyed playing hymns together in church services. All selections are easy-medium difficult, and can be played as a solo, duet or trio, either with or without accompaniments from the LDS Hymnal. Violin parts can be sung as well-in a trio. If you do not own a hymnal, or are not a member of the LDS church, please visit www.lds.org/cm/display/0,17631,4650-1,00.html and select the hymn by title or hymn number.

OPEN YOUR HEART

Religious Vocal Duet, SA, Open Your Heart, was written for a visiting teaching conference in the Green Field Ward in Mesa AZ. One of my friends approached me, gave me her ideas and asked me to write a song. She wanted something with a play on the word Harmony--and how we as sisters in the gospel create harmony when we work together. Her idea gave me the inspiration to write the song. A group of us sang it at the conference; it was a neat experience!

THIS I KNOW

Religious Children's Song, This I Know was written for our son. At age 5, he was scared about going to school for the first time. I remember laying beside him on his bed one night and talking to him about how he could pray and ask Heavenly Father to help him have courage, and how the Holy Ghost could help him feel safe. Several years later, as his baptism approached, I decided to write our son a song that he and the girls could sing for that special day. As I thought about what I wanted him to know, I remembered that conversation we had years earlier when he was scared--and how it was the simple gospel principles of faith, prayer and love that brought him the comfort and strength that he needed. Many of the exact words we shared that night are right here in his song. I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father, who gave a worried mom the help I needed to calm a little boy's fears!

THIS IS WHO I AM

Secular ballad, Vocal Solo-This Is Who I Am was written for the American Idol Songwriter's competition. Each year, contestants have their winning moment on stage where they sing their 'winner's moment' song. So, I wrote this song with that 'moment' in mind. On a whim I decided to enter the competition, and 2 days before the deadline I started writing. Well, the day of the deadline came and as I pushed the enter button, the song was to big of a file to be accepted. I wasn't about to re-write it, so I never entered the song!

COME, THOU FOUNT OF EVERY BLESSING

Religious, Vocal Trio SAA-Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing was written while we lived in Mesa AZ. We were fortunate to live by many musically talented family members. I was asked to provide a musical number for sacrament meeting and I thought it would be fun to have something where we 'sisters' could sing together.
